The KBA has obtained a supply of Smart Money Counterfeit Detector Pens for distribution to the membership at a cost lower than direct.
As the only patented counterfeit detector pen, Smart Money is used, in conjunction with an institution’s established verification procedures, as a quick counterfeit verification method. It works on U.S. and most international currencies. This patented chemical formula leaves a temporary CLEAR or YELLOW mark if the bill is good. It leaves a permanent DARK MARK if the bill is suspect. Each detector pen tests over 10,000 bills. Each pen is packaged in a gold vinyl sleeve with a mandatory disclaimer that states: "Smart Money - Counterfeit Detector, Made in USA, Patent #5,063,163. Mark paper currency - yellow or clear/currency is good; brown or dark/currency is suspect. Use in addition to standard detection methods." This mandatory imprint will appear on the vinyl sleeve.
Please note: While no method of counterfeit detection is perfect, the Smart Money Counterfeit Detector Pen is an excellent deterrent to the passing of counterfeit currency and will detect a great majority of false bills. Smart Money and the KBA recommends that this product be used in conjunction with other detection methods. Smart Money is effective on worldwide currency, EXCEPT Canada, dated after 1959.
