Thumbprint Signature Program
Order Form
Thumbprint Signature program is KBA's statewide effort aimed at reducing check fraud and protecting bank customers. It's anticipated the program will act as a deterrent to those contemplating check fraud, and for those who are not deterred, law enforcement agencies will have a fingerprint to pursue those responsible for the fraudulent activity.
How does it work? Participating banks require non-account holders to apply their right thumb to an inkless fingerprinting device that leaves no ink stains or residue. The Thumbprint Signature is placed on the face of the check between the memo line and signature line. Participating banks will not maintain a data bank of Thumbprint Signatures. The impressions will only be used by flaw enforcement officials in cases where fraud is suspected. The increasing sophistication of duplicating equipment has resulted in an alarming increase in check fraud and we believe this program will bring it to a screeching halt."
