Update on the 2020 Session
UPDATE ON THE 2020 SESSION OF THE KENTUCKY GENERAL ASSEMBLY FROM CAPTIAL LINK CONSULTANTS
First and foremost, we hope you and your family are healthy and well in these unusual circumstances.
Even in these uncertain times, the Kentucky General Assembly forges ahead with their legislative work. As of this writing, there are two legislative days scheduled. The legislature plans to meet April 1st and April 15th.
Legislative leaders have been doing their best to craft a state budget and road plan and are expected to vote on these bills April 1st. It is highly likely, though, that a special legislative session will be called sometime in the future to adjust our state budget to meet the new budgetary realities that result from Covid19.
After meeting on April 1st, the legislature will then adjourn until April 15th and, upon their return, will consider overriding any vetoes that the governor may have issued.
It should be noted that Kentucky will be moving all tax filings to comply with the federal government, and penalties and interest have been waived while this state of emergency is in place.
Shortly after the official close of the 2020 session of the Kentucky General Assembly and, leading up to a potential special-called session, the interim committee process will begin in which legislators and policy makers will continue crafting legislative approaches to the challenges that lie ahead. Your Capital Link Consultants team will be active on your behalf in both monitoring and shaping solutions that are in your best interest.
