Personal and Business Tax Return Analysis
This seminar will provide participants with a better understanding of the often complex and confusing topic of taxes. The first part of the day will concentrate on personal tax return analysis, while the second will focus on the analysis of various business tax returns.

Session Highlights
  • Review the basic structure of the personal tax return Form 1040 and supporting Schedules including Schedules K-1
  • Prepare a personal cash flow from information obtained from Form 1040 and supporting schedules
  • Review the recent changes in tax law that will have an impact on underwriting
  • Review the structure of C Corporation (Form 1120), S Corporation (Form 1120 S), and Partnership including LLCs (Form 1065) tax returns and Schedules K-1.
  • Discuss the interpretation of Schedules M-1 and M-2 of corporate tax returns
  • Utilize the business tax return to construct a quick analysis tool that will assist in structuring a loan request
  • Integrate business and personal cash flow into global cash flow
  • Apply the concepts in multiple case studies

Richard Mayeda is the First Vice President, Senior Credit Officer at First Financial Northwest Bank in Renton Washington – south of Seattle. Richard has over 35 years of banking experience, almost all of it in commercial lending. He calls himself an all-around Pacific Northwest Banker as he has worked for seven different institutions over the years, of all different sizes, in the states of Washington, Idaho and Oregon. He has experience first as a credit analyst, then as a small business lender, moving on to commercial banking and finally to credit administration. Richard graduated with a business degree from the University of Washington and has an MBA in Finance from the University of Puget Sound. Richard also graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School – Honor Roll. For the past five years, he has also served as a Research Report Advisor for Pacific Coast Banking School. Richard and his wife of 40 years enjoy traveling and are well along on their way on visiting all of the National Parks (46 out of 63!)

Education Alliance Cancellation Policy
Substitutions are always welcome and encouraged. All cancellations and substitutions request must be submitted in writing prior to the event.

KBA Seminar Registrations can cancel 30 days prior to the event date and receive a full refund. Cancellations received between 29 days and 10 days prior to the event will be charged a $50 processing fee. There will be no refund for cancellations received less than 10 days prior to the event.

KBA Schools Applicants can withdraw from a KBA School 10 days prior to the 1st day of the school for a refund minus a $150 cancellation fee. There is no refund if an applicant withdraws after the deadline or if applicant fails to attend the school, with the exception of extenuating circumstances. Due to commitments and expenses we cannot reverse, such as: handouts, food, beverages, room rentals, speaker fees, etc.; even extenuating circumstances will require partial refunds because of these expenses.
