2:00 PM - 2:45 PM Speed Networking

2:45 PM - 3:45 PM Susan Pittman, MCM, The "Other" Intelligence: Emotional Intelligence

Decades of research now point to emotional intelligence as the critical factor that sets star performers apart from the rest of the pack. Emotional intelligence (EI) is that “something” in each of us that is a bit intangible yet is twice the predictor of career, relationship and personal success than your technical knowledge and your IQ combined. Think about it… EI affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. Emotional intelligence is your ability to recognize and understand emotions in yourself and others, and your ability to use this awareness to manage your behavior and relationships.

  • Emotions Drive People

  • People Drive Performance

The good news is that, unlike your IQ, your EQ can be developed/honed over time – with emphasis on assessment and personal development planning and growth.

    In this session, you will:

    1) Learn why emotional intelligence is the “soft” skill that determines professional and leadership success.

    2) Understand the emotional intelligence can be increased over time (unlike your IQ) and is twice the predictor of success than your technical skills and IQ combined.

    3) Understand what Emotional Intelligence is, and explore the different aspects of E.I.: Self-Awareness, Emotional Management, and Emotional Connection.

    4) Create an Emotional Intelligence action plan that will impact on your professional and personal relationships.

    3:45 PM - 4 PM Break

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Terri Luttrell, Abrigo, Human Trafficking: Closer to Home Than You Think

Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing criminal activities in the world, exploiting over 45 million people and generating an estimated $150 billion in profits each year. Through force, fraud, and coercion, traffickers compel victims of all genders, ages, and nationalities into labor and sexual exploitation situations. Often, money is the fuel that incentivizes traffickers and funds the operations of trafficking networks. Financial institutions have a critical role in identifying and disrupting human trafficking. This session will discuss what financial institutions and BSA professionals can do to help identify, flag, and prevent human trafficking.
